RE/MAX RECEIVES PRISA PRISM HONOURS IN ACHIEVING SOUND PR OBJECTIVES

PRISM AWARD FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS EXCELENCE IN SERVICE CATEGORY

CAPE TOWN, 28 March 2008 - RE/MAX of Southern Africa was awarded a Silver PRISM Award at the Public Relations Institute of South Africa’s annual awards for PR Excellence, held at Vodaworld in Johannesburg on Wednesday 26th March 2008.

The prestigious trophy was the first ever awarded to a South African estate agency group in the 11 year history of the awards and RE/MAX also received the highest honour in the category of Best Public Relations for an Existing Service.   RE/MAX Marketing and Finance Director Jeanne van Jaarsveldt shared the award with Marcus Brewster, CEO of Marcus Brewster Publicity (MBP).

Earlier this year RE/MAX made local history as the first real-estate company to record an annual sales turnover in excess of over R20 billion.  In addition, the group was announced one as first in the real-estate sector in the publication of SA’s Top 500 companies. Both these accolades was internationally supported by being crowned as one of the world’s top brands by the 2008 Global Franchise Survey.

The PRISM awarded to RE/MAX followed after the group’s highly-successful Hijacking Survey initiative last year, conceived by PR agency of record, MBP.

The agency conducted research that revealed that 51 per cent of hijackings took place at homes.  From that RE/MAX was able to run a media relations campaign providing advice to the public on protecting themselves from this crime at their homes, which in return ensures the preservation of property investment value.   The campaign resulted in 120 stories across South African print, National TV broadcast and cyber media while yielding in excess of R2 million of media coverage and setting an all-time record of unique visitors to the RE/MAX website.

“The campaign’s strategic objectives was to re-introduce RE/MAX to SA media, create breakthrough public awareness and position the company as ‘realtor for the people’ , which were handsomely met” says Van Jaarsveldt.

“PR is very important component to the RE/MAX marketing and communication mix and will continue to be a priority to deliver our brand promise, and build sustainable, long-term relationships with South African home-owners.”

Comments Brewster: “RE/MAX rates brand PR very highly in its list of marketing priorities so we were delighted to work on a campaign that satisfied positioning objectives as well as delivering measurable figures for website traffic.  This resulted in a very real surge of interest and enquiries of the product and service offering of RE/MAX Broker/Owners and Sales Associates.   In a nod to the payoff line of RE/MAX, this was a case of “Outstanding PR. Outstanding Results”!
