RE/MAX SWEEPS TOP SPOT IN 2008 PROPERTY PROFESSIONAL AWARDS

CAPE TOWN (July 20)- Port Elizabethan Jacoba (Kobie) Potgieter is the new Nedbank Property Association Property Professional of the Year for 2008.

The announcement was made at the Arabella Hotel in Hermanus last night after the ten nominees selected nationally for the industry’s most coveted title were interviewed by a panel of judges.

The awards are open to members of the Property Association and are based on an entry level of annual sales of more than R10 million (rural areas R7,5 million) or 40 sales in the 12-month period ending February 2008.

Potgieter, who has woven a broad tapestry of international and local awards, the most recently being the highest commission earner among RE/MAX’s International stable for the first quarter of this year, is the broker owner of Port Elizabeth’s RE/MAX Independent estate agency. Under Potgieter the agency has raced from a sales staff of five in 2003 to a current crew of 58 agents and a commanding market share.

The award is also heavily based on an agent’s community and social involvement, which in Potgieter’s case involves sponsoring of primary and secondary schools and fund raising events for feeding and clothing orphaned babies and the delivery of food packages to old-age homes and indigent people.

Potgieter also received a Young Lions award in 2005 and is a nominee for South Africa’s Most Influential Business Woman of the Year for 2008.
