RE/MAX of SA Announces RE/MAX World Long Drive Celebrity ChallengeCelebrities along with SA's Long Driving Champ Rynardt Combrink to participate in event with R400 K donation tag for Reach for A Dream CAPE TOWN, August 15 - RE/MAX of Southern Africa today announces the RE/MAX World Long Drive Celebrity Challenge with well-known personalities today at the Vodacom Golf Village in Tyger Valley for the Reach for A Dream Foundation, the official charity of record supported for the real-estate group and backed by 200 RE/MAX offices and 2100 agents nationwide. The star squad includes Tonderia Chavhanga (Springbok), Chester Williams (former Springbok), Aidan Bennetts (Top Billing), Ferdinand Rabie (Big Brother Fame), Dieter Voigt (Mr SA 2007), Tracy McGregor (winner of the 2008 FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World competition) , Izak Strauss (Kwela presenter), and members Cape Town's top performing indy rock band, the Dirty Skirts. Having six shots each to hit the possible furthest distance, RE/MAX will contribute an amount to Reach for A Dream Foundation based on the best distance hit by a star: R30 K for 0 - 250 m, R40 K for 251 - 300 m and R50 for 301 - 350 m. RE/MAX of Southern Africa further announces the special inclusion of Rynardt Combrink, South African golf's champion long hitter, on the celebrity driving squad, who will act as the safety net to hit and earn the balance, should celebrity players be off target. Combrink is currently on the top of the leader board in the open division of this year's RE/MAX World Long Driving Championship, which invited golfers to proof their driving mettle at various regional tournaments held across SA since April. The South African finals are scheduled on September 6, and the winner of the contest will compete at the international Championship Finals in Mesquite, Nevada in the USA, competing for a record purse of $ 600,000.00. Combrink's longest hit of 417 meters was recorded earlier this year at the Zwartkop Country Club on July 2 - should Combrink hit this distance at the RE/MAX World Long Drive Celebrity Challenge, R50 000 will be contributed. "RE/MAX is the largest benefactor to our foundation, having contributed more than R6 million to date. We are grateful for this initiative, and also for the time that well-known personalities in Cape Town are taking out of their schedules," says Heidi Rowley, Western Cape branch manager of Reach for A Dream.
