SA agents clean up at global RE/MAX awardsLocal real estate sales’ professionals show the world how it is done – Las Vegas, Nevada. RE/MAX of Southern Africa, one of the top three regional performers within the 65 country RE/MAX property group, scooped two first class honours and a combined total of 18 international awards, at the group's recent annual international awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. First place in the RE/MAX International Residential Individual Estate Agent of the Year was awarded to Pretoria estate agent Roma Naude of RE/MAX Jacaranda while the highest honour was also bestowed on Cape Town's Gerlinde Moser team from RE/MAX Living in the Top Ten Team's International Residential category. The awards, which do not include North American estate agent offices, were based on commission earned. Further respect was given to the South African 205-office franchise with the Distinguished Service Award being awarded to Pietermaritzburg owner/broker Pelham Henwood of RE/MAX Midlands. This is the first time the award in RE/MAX's 35-year history has been conferred on an estate agent outside of North America and was given in recognition of Henwood's long-standing contribution to the rise of RE/MAX of Southern Africa growth in becoming South Africa's leading real estate group. Last year the group became the first in South Africa to post a R20 billion turnover in a financial year. RE/MAX of Southern Africa also emphasised the depth of international quality of local estate agents and their high degree of professionalism with a further three agents featuring in The Top Ten Individuals International awards with Alan Davidson of RE/MAX Central in third spot, Tracey Snyman of RE/MAX Masters in sixth position and Jacoba Potgieter, owner broker of RE/MAX Independent in Port Elizabeth, in eighth position. South African real estate franchises powered their way to fill seven positions in the Top 10 Teams - International Residential with Andrew Goodwin of RE/MAX Masters second; Christopher Morris of RE/MAX Dolphins Realtors fourth; Andre Langeveldt of RE/MAX Property Associates fifth; Keith Allan of RE/MAX Masters eighth; Ian Lockyer of RE/MAX Traders ninth and Pamela Eglington of RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors in tenth position. Roma Naude also finished fifth and Alan Davidson eighth in the Top 10 Individual - Worldwide Residential & Commercial categories. Cape Town's RE/MAX Property Associates (Tableview), which was the first RE/MAX franchise in South Africa to post over R1billion in reported sales last year, received the highest honours in the Largest Single Office Worldwide category, while the East Rand's RE/MAX Traders was the top Largest Multi-Office International franchise. Ronan McCool, franchise director of RE/MAX Southern Africa, was the runner up in the Franchise Marketing - International Awards. RE/MAX of Southern Africa were awarded 18 international honours in all, which was the highest number made to any country outside of North America. Internationally RE/MAX has more than 121 000 associates operating in more than 7 000 offices. Locally the group has 2 150 associates in 205 offices in six sub-Saharan countries including Mauritius. |
